What is Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA)?

Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is an examination that uses CT scanning to visualize blood flow in arterial and venous vessels throughout the body.

Why is this exam done?

CTA is helpful in examining blood vessels and the organs supplied by them in various body parts, including:

  • Dissection
  • Pulmonary Embolism

How should I prepare?

CTA scans are quick and noninvasive. You cannot have anything to eat for 4 hours prior to our appointment; however, we do encourage you to drink water up until the time of the procedure.
